Week 11 Previews and Predictions

Bishop Manogue Miners @ Douglas Tigers THURSDAY AT 7

Lynn’s Take: Is this the classic trap game? Bishop Manogue have the

league title secured and the number one seed for the 5A II playoffs. The Douglas Tigers come into this game off a tough, home, loss to the Reed Raiders. A Douglas win would be the win of the year in the North, a signature win for Head Coach Kyle Mays and his Tigers. If you are Coach Howren, do you rest some guys, giving them two weeks of rest before a home playoff game or do you keep doing what is working and play to win? We will find out Thursday night, as for me, I am rolling with Bishop Manogue until the give me a reason not to.

J. Ray Dockter's Prediction: Bishop Manogue Miners 44-14

Lynn Ault's Prediction: Bishop Manogue Miners 35-28

Brady Raggio's Prediction: Bishop Manogue Miners

Michael Reeves Prediction: Bishop Manogue Miners 35-14

Wooster Colts @ Galena Grizzlies THURSDAY AT 7

Lynn’s Take: The Grizz have secured their first league title since 2012! This week

Wooster make the trip to Galena, and I see no reason to believe the Grizzlies will let-up.

J. Ray Dockter's Prediction: Galena Grizzlies 42-6

Lynn Ault's Prediction: Galena Grizzlies 45-7

Brady Raggio's Prediction: Galena Grizzlies

Michael Reeves Prediction: Galena Grizzlies 49-7

Damonte Ranch Mustangs @ Carson Senators THURSDAY AT 7

Lynn’s Take:  We have some great matchups this final week of the regular season, and none better than this 5A III Northern showdown in the state capital. The second seed is on-the-line and a chance to be on the opposite side of the playoff bracket from Galena. Carson has not defeated Damonte since 2015, a 17-14 victory. Carson come into this game with an impressive 6-3 record, Damonte are 4-4. This feels like a rock and an immovable object type of game. Both teams play tough defense. Damonte is giving up 20 points per game, just 5.25 points per game in league play with three straight shutouts. Carson is giving up 19 points per game, 8.25 per league contest. Offensively their numbers are also very similar, 29 points per league contest for Carson and 37 for Damonte. After a rough start to the season, it feels like Damonte has found its rhythm and I like their chances in what should be a close hard-fought game.

J. Ray Dockter's Prediction: Damonte Ranch Mustangs 28-20

Lynn Ault's Prediction: Damonte Ranch Mustangs 28-14

Brady Raggio's Prediction: Carson Senators

Michael Reeves Prediction: Damonte Ranch Mustangs 35-14

Hug Hawks @ North Valleys Panthers THURSDAY AT 7

Lynn’s Take: North Valleys were up 21-7, at home, against Carson, and

watched Carson put 20 on the board in the fourth quarter, securing the win. That locked the

Panthers into the fourth or fifth seed. If Valleys win this game, they host Wooster in the first

round of the playoffs, and I don’t see North Valleys slipping up this last week of the regular

season.

J. Ray Dockter's Prediction: North Valleys Panthers 48-6

Lynn Ault's Prediction: North Valleys Panthers 49-7

Brady Raggio's Prediction: North Valleys Panthers

Michael Reeves Prediction: North Valleys Panthers 35-7

Reed Raiders @ Spanish Springs Cougars FRIDAY AT 7

Lynn’s Take: The 5A II North second seed is up for grabs in this rivalry

matchup. The Cougars have won three in a row and six of the last seven. Reed come into this one after beating Douglas and appear poised to challenge Bishop Manogue for the North title, but the Cougars stand in their way. Last year the Cougars went 2-0 against the Raiders and 1-1 the year before that. I like what Head Coach Garrett Hughes has and I think they win a close one Friday night.

J. Ray Dockter's Prediction: Reed Raiders 28-27

Lynn Ault's Prediction: Reed Raiders 28-24

Brady Raggio's Prediction: Reed Raiders

Michael Reeves Prediction: Reed Raiders 35-14

Reno Huskies @ McQueen Lancers FRIDAY AT 7

Lynn’s Take: Talk about rivalry games, and this one has major implications as the loser will

shift to the 5A III next year and the winner will stay in the 5A II. Reno are 2-5, 0-4 in league and McQueen are 3-6, 0-4 in league. The Lancers went 1-1 against the Huskies last season, losing the last game of the year at Reno, but then winning a first-round playoff game the next week. I have looked at common opponents, scoring differential, and other data points and at the end of the day I think you toss all that out because it is a rivalry league game with major implications on the line. This will be a dog fight that I think comes down to the fourth quarter, perhaps the last possession, and I am taking the Lancers.

J. Ray Dockter's Prediction: Reno Huskies 21-20

Lynn Ault's Prediction: McQueen Lancers 27-24

Brady Raggio's Prediction: McQueen Lancers

Michael Reeves Prediction: Reno Huskies 28-21
